Experience more with a MaasVerkenner (Meuse explorer)

Together with a MaasVerkenner, you can explore the RivierPark Maasvallei in a unique and interesting way. You will see, hear and experience things you might never experience otherwise.

MaasVerkenners are the guides who know the RivierPark Maasvallei like the back of their hand. On your trip with them, they will tell you all about the Meuse, its history and its inhabitants in and alongside the water. The MaasVerkenners offer activities for all ages and target groups. Take your pick from an existing excursion, or contact us for a tailor-made one.

How to participate?

  • With your own group: choose from the thematic offer below. You decide the time and location. There is a charge of 70 euros per Maas Explorer with a maximum of 20 people.

  • On an individual basis via our activity calendar: Every 2nd Sunday of the month, a MaasVerkenner is waiting for you in one of the Maas villages. Reservations are required and you will pay a small participation fee (5 euros p.p., 3 euros per child <12 years old).

Thematic offer

Are you exploring with a group or looking for a fun activity for a teambuilding, bachelor party or family outing? Then make a reservation for your personal MaasVerkenner.

You decide on the date, starting time and location. Depending on the starting location, the excursion will have a different accent, taking into account the environment and the history of the area. Each guide can take up to 20 people. Price is 70 euros per half-day session (excursion of 2 to 3 hours).

Tailor-made excursion with MaasVerkenner

Monthly excursions

Every second Sunday of the month, a MaasVerkenner is waiting for you in one of the access villages. Reservations are required and you pay a small participation fee: 5 euros for adults, 3 euros for children <12 years old. An overview of the monthly excursions is given below. Please note that these excursions are all guided in Dutch.

Cultuur en nieuwe natuur aan de Maas
12 april om 14u - Meerssen

Er werd hard gewerkt aan de hoogwaterveiligheid voor de inwoners van Geulle aan de Maas. Nu de werken klaar zijn heeft het Maasdorp er een uniek stukje dynamische riviernatuur bij gekregen. De Maas zwaait er nu de plak en dit is te zien aan de bijzondere en weelderige plantengroei en dierenleven in het gebied. Het natuurgebied Aan de Maas wordt beheerd door Staatsbosbeheer. Reserveer snel en ga mee op avontuur met MaasVerkenner Fred.

Onze MaasVerkenner vertelt je alles over de wonderen in de bakermat van Maaseik, Aldeneik. In dit pittoreske Maasdorpje gebeurden ten tijde van Harlindis en Relindis bijzondere dingen… Gebouwen, brugjes en de kerk getuigen vandaag nog steeds van deze wonderen.

Het RivierPark Maasvallei in geuren en kleuren

Het is hoog zomer en langs de gemeenschappelijke Maas in Meers is de ruige riviernatuur, beheerd door Natuurmonumenten, al goed in ontwikkeling en optimaal te beleven. Hier kun je eindeloos struinen en genieten van een bijzonder landschap dat continu in beweging is. Geniet van een landschap waar water, grindoevers, struiken, ooibossen met open plekken, bloemen, kruiden en grassen elkaar afwisselen. Onze Maasverkenner dompelt je onder in de bloemen-, planten- en kruidenpracht.
