Ferries

To truly explore the RivierPark Maasvallei across borders, you can use the bicycle and foot ferries during a bicycle tour or a long hike. A ride on one of the charming ferries to the other side of the Meuse immediately gets you in a holiday mood. So you can make lovely connections between the various Meuse villages and nature reserves.

There are four ferries in the RivierPark Maasvallei: three bicycle and pedestrian ferries and one large ferry that is also accessible for car traffic.

The Meuse is an erratic rain river, which means the water level in the river changes regularly. At high and low water (drought), the ferries occasionally have to be closed. Unpleasant for your cycling trip, but great natural phenomena to go and see in the RivierPark. We try to announce the most recent developments as much as possible on our Facebook page RivierPark Maasvallei

On the website rondjemethetpontje.nl you will also find the latest info regarding the ferries.

Ferryman at work

Commissioned by De Vlaamse Waterweg, the river manager on the Flemish side of the Meuse, an authentic video was made of one of the steersmen on the ferries. Watch and enjoy.
